ARTS FEST

AGENDA

FNTM ARTS FEST is a new project that has been created in order to showcase the talent of those who self-identify as female, non-binary, or trans male. We seek to feature the work of groups which may experience disadvantages in the creative arts as a result of their gender in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Starting off as a predominantly theatre-focussed project, the FNTM ARTS FEST mission statement has grown. It now encompasses a wider range of artistic media, where women, non-binary and trans male people are involved as artists, poets, performers, directors, musicians, writers, podcast creators, producers, designers, and technicians. Through these projects, our aim is to present the artistic voices of our contributors in the way that they wish to be heard, not in the way that they are expected to be. We seek to provide a platform for these voices to be celebrated.

These events have been produced by female, non-binary, and trans male creatives, but we invite anyone and everyone, regardless of their gender, to join in the celebration. FNTM ARTS FEST strives to generate an inclusive atmosphere in which all members of the Cambridge community, can come together to enjoy the range of events that we have on offer!

ACCESS

Despite the fact that disabled people are the largest minority group in the world (making up 15% of the world’s population, according to the World Health Organisation’s 2011 study), access in the arts has, for far too long, gone ignored and underimplimented. The FNTM Arts Fest is working with Relaxed Theatre Company (https://www.relaxedtheatrecompany.co.uk/) - a theatre group run by and for disabled people - to try and combat this issue, and have sought to make our festival as accessible as possible.

We have provided thorough Content Notices (for thematic aspects, such as abuse or discrimination) and Content Warnings (for technical aspects, such as strong smells or audience interaction) for all of our events. We have also ensured that all our venues are wheelchair accessible and have endeavoured to pick spaces with hearing loops where possible. We also have an email address (fntmfest@gmail.com) where members of the public can contact us if they have any access requirements we have not yet met, and we will endeavour to do all we can to meet them.
